SHARING OF SOCIAL CONCERNS THROUGH CARE COMMITTEE
Sharing of Social Concerns through the Care Committee
Matthew 25:35-40, calls each us of us to be swift in reaching out to the needy in our surroundings. Kothanur CSI Church, in response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the covid19 pandemic, a Care Committee was formed under the guidance of our pastor, Rev. Jessie Ranjan and the pastorate committee.
The main purpose of this Committee was to identify the needs and offer all possible help and assistance to the needy members of our church and those in the neighbourhood who were affected by the pandemic.
The support was in the form of pastoral care, councelling, emotional support, medicical care & guidance, dessimation of information about oxygen / bed availability, supply of provisions & essentials etc..
Webinars were organised with medical experts using tele medicine solutions to create more awareness and offer tele consultations.
The Committee was divided into sub-groups such as Medical support, Emotional and Spiritual Support, Need identification and Coordination for necessary support and Resource Mobilisation. Several congregation members showed interest to be part of the subgroups.
Outreach activities for the marginalised families ( garbage collectotors ) in the neighborhood were organised. They were provided with provisions, clothings and nutritional supplements. Special health camps were organised for them. Over 40 families were benifitted through these services. These families were recognised as the extended families of our church.
Sale of used goods was organised and the proceeds collected were used for the welfare activities.
Though the pandemic is over, the church decided to continue the activities for the needy and extended families through periodical health camps, provision of essential household items, fellowship dinner etc..
Soon tailoring classes will begin for the extended families and the members of our church with the aim to empower women.
Those who would like to donate or get involved in the activities of the Care Committee are welcome to contact the Pastor.
